Spear-fishing,
angling, fishing with vertical lines or trolling (long lining with
maximum one hundred hooks and with up to three fish traps), are the
permitted fishing methods in Cyprus.
Fishing with nets and with any other commercial methods, is not
allowed. Special licences must be obtained for those interested in
angling in dams from the Head Office of Fisheries Department, in
Nicosia or from the District Offices of Fisheries Department. Licences
are personal and are issued to persons over 12 years old.
