| BEACH HOLIDAYS - SUN PREPARATION |
|
The most important thing you do before you go on holiday is to book it. Obviously. After that comes packing. How many of us plan what we'll pack and find ourselves at the last moment, flinging, in quite a frenzied state, everything and anything that looks summery into a suitcase? Packing is a vital and an integral part of your holiday and should be treated as such. A very basic rule of thumb is that what you leave behind is just as vital as what you bring. No matter how many times we're told that we really don't need to bring very much for a fortnight's fun in the sun, we ignore it. But it is true. For starters during the day all you need is a couple of bikinis and/or swimsuits as well as cover-ups for lunching or strolling around if you're not confident enough to flaunt the body beautiful. Don't make the mistake of thinking that you'll get gorgeous bikinis at your resort. You will, but at what price? Beach boutiques tend to be very pricey so buy now or you really will pay later... Skin preparation creams and suntan lotions and oils are just as important as clothes. These items are usually much more expensive abroad, so stock up here well in advance and, not only will you save money, but you will also be sure of what you're buying. These days, every-one is aware of the detrimental effect of over exposure to the sun, but the many tried and tested products on the market will ensure safe and easy tanning. Good sunglasses are a must. The skin around your eyes will resemble the proverbial handbag if you expose them to too much sunshine. Talking of handbags, don't bring an expensive one with you - it's an invitation to be nicked and with it goes the passport, travellers cheques and cash. And finally, salve your conscience now before you step on that plane. Do not under any circumstances bring your work with you. In your heart of hearts, you know you're not going to do anything so just forget it and enjoy yourself. A number of shops and department stores now stock a brilliant range of sarongs, pareos and brightly coloured sun wraps, so there is no excuse for not looking elegant and sexy on the beach! The inventor of the sarong certainly gets our vote anyway as we cannot think of a better garment to cover up - for convenience, looking good and remaining fashionable and trendy. Don't forget to look after your hair on holiday as irreparable damage can be done between harsh sunlight and salt water - a devastating combination. Bring plenty of rich conditioners and protective gels and your crowning glory will stay healthy and shiny. |
